To use as a condiment:
In Malaysia, it is customary to have a little condiment plate of sambal to the right of each dinner plate. Diners add sambal a little bit at a time to each bite with their forks or chopsticks. Use as a spicy spread for sandwiches, wraps and burgers.
To use as an ingredient in cooking,
use sambal to:
- enhance stir-fries and casseroles.
- add flavor to marinades for seafood, poultry, beef, lamb or pork.
