To use as a condiment:

In Malaysia, it is customary to have  aFish Congee little condiment plate of sambal to the right of each dinner plate. Diners add sambal a little bit at a time to each bite with their forks or chopsticks.  Use as a spicy spread for sandwiches, wraps and burgers.








Shrimp Sambal

To use as an ingredient in cooking,

use sambal to:


  • enhance stir-fries and casseroles.
  • add flavor to marinades for seafood, poultry, beef, lamb or pork.
  • add spiciness to pan sauces and salad dressings.
