Hot Chilli Sambal is to Malaysians what ketchup is to Americans. The word Sambal refers to a blend of ground peppers and aromatics, with the main ingredient being fresh chillies. In Malaysia, sambal is most often made at home. Each family has their own recipe for it, influenced by regional differences and the availability of fresh ingredients. This delicious Sambal is made following my family’s recipe, the way my mother made it for us back home.

Flavored with fermented shrimp paste directly sourced from Malacca, a coastal city in Malaysia, a little Hot Chili Sambal goes a long way in adding flavor to everything it touches.

  • – Use it as a condiment on the side of a plate of noodles or rice. Pick up a dab with each   forkful – you control how much heat each bite needs.
  • – Marinate seafoods, poultry and meats –  either alone and in combination with other  ingredients.
  • – Spice up stir-fries.
  • – Mix into mayonnaise or ketchup for a spicy sandwich spread. Also great in grilled cheese sandwiches.
  • – Add to soups, stews and casseroles.

    Saw her on Fox News when the Fancy Food Show was in town. Went to Kalustyans to get both flavors – love them both, don’t ask me to pick my favorite. I think it’s the Lime leaf, nope definitely the Hot Chilli. Nope, def the lime leaf. Whatever – they’re both incredible and unique. For all my international eating, I’ve never tasted any hot sauce or comdiment packed with such flavor!

    Auria! I was just visiting NYC a few weeks back staying in Chelsea. I found Foragers around the corner from our rental and lucky me…I spotted this magical jar on the shelves! I am always on the look out for the perfect hot chili oil/sauce/sambal…and yours is one of the best I have tasted! It’s the perfect combo of heat and flavor without being overrun by garlic nor burning. I do love heat and this packs the perfect punch (for me). I called Foragers today and spoke with the manager – she was so nice and knew exactly what I was looking for and was so excited I called. They love you there btw 🙂 I could not fly with my jar so I left it with a dear friend in NYC as I kept on my travels but I was so excited to come home and order a stash which I will share with friends and family!     This is a great chilli + dried shrimp condiment! It is a great way to elevate any dish. It is spicy but it won’t kill you. One of my fav comfort meals is fried eggs, fried chicken wing, steamed jasmine rice (even better if coconut rice), and some of this sambal.

    Singaporeans + Malaysians living outside of our homelands – Auria’s doesn’t disappoint in giving us a taste of home with this sambal!! It is hot but not overwhelming so. I have made fried rice/noodles with it and both were very tasty.

    The only problem with Auria’s sambal is that it’s like crack. I’m addicted!!! I put it on pretty much everything, except pie and cake. Best thing ever!!!

    Are you a fascist? You must be if you don’t know about, or love AMK Hot Chili Sambal.

    You should eat AMK Hot Chili Sambal everyday, and feel the warm Malaysian love shower down upon on you and your family. Sambal is love. Clearly you need more love in your life, fascist. Do it.

    If you refuse, we can fight, Brazilian Jujitsu style in the streets of Brooklyn, where AMK Sambal is crafted. I eat AMK Sambal all the time, so you’d lose the fight.

    Delicious. I especially love this flavor and touch of heat paired with red meat. When I offer it as a condiment at parties with whatever dish I bring, the bottle gets adopted and never makes it back home with me. Must try!

    WOW! I love this sambal SO MUCH – it tastes just like home. I got it on a whim from FoodKick and I cannot express how happy I am and how much it is worth it !! Very spicy which I LOVE – a lot of hot sauces are either not spicy enough for my palate or they are trying to rip my taste buds off. This is very spicy and full of flavor, but luckily my taste buds are intact. I love putting it on everything! Funky fermented shrimp flavor is also amazing. I immediately came to this site to purchase everything Auria makes, as well as some jars for a friend. I can’t wait for the package to come!

    Oy vey, this is the most deeply rich and delicious starter / condiment , all round meal stopping secret ingredient that ppl will continuously ask abt everytime you share a meal you make with the sambal. Auria does all the hard work for you. Essentially , it’s malaysia’s mole sauce. You will not regret purchasing anything from this kitchen.

    We put this sambal on everything! It is perfect balance between heat and umami and my partner and I can’t get enough! It’s the secret ingredient in so many of our dishes from a spicy aioli for masubi’s to the perfect surprise kick in bruschetta! Honestly, I can’t recommend this product, or really any of these products, enough!

    As a Malaysian, sambal is life, it’s my religion. I love it and I live for it. I came across Auria’s Malaysian Kitchen and decided to purchase some sambal. As soon as it arrived, I opened the jar and took a whiff of it and just knew that this sambal was going to be amazing. My husband made some stir fried noodles a few nights ago and added some sambal to it. It was soooooo good! I had to stop myself from devouring the entire jar. I could probably eat that entire jar with rice and it would still be amazing. We will definitely be buying more sambal once we run out. If you’re looking for sambal that’s not only just spicy but extremely flavorful, I couldn’t recommend this enough! Please try it! You won’t regret it! 🙂

    Wow! This is the best sambal I’ve ever had! Plenty of heat, but not overwhelming. And the flavor! The shrimp adds a wonderful depth to it. I need to make some Laksa now and really give this a try! (Though tomorrow it’s going on eggs for breakfast!) The only downside is that I will probably need another jar very soon!
